ABOUT

The Healing Headphone Cathedral

Daily Breadth isn’t just another devotional app with the label “meditation” slapped on top. It’s also not just another meditation app with the label “Christian” imposed. After thousands of hours of work, we have created something truly new - a digital sacred space to welcome Christians into the practice of Scripture-soaked meditation that leans on both the tradition and science of the practice so that they really work.

At Daily Breadth we have constructed a healing headphone cathedral. Like a cathedral, the architecture has been thoughtfully forged to draw your awareness into worship of and conversation with the Creator of the cosmos. This is where healing begins, in relationship with the one who made us, the One who knows us completely, the One who loves us without conditions.

Daily Bread

The name "Daily Breadth" comes from a marriage of three different ideas. The first is that of Daily Bread. Jesus prayed: "Give us this day our daily bread." That prayer returns us to the present moment, knowing that each day we can ask God to for provide for the things we need to strengthen us for this day alone, again and again. The daily practice of expectantly asking for provision for our holistic human flourishing with all the complex and multi-faceted needs of each day is a huge part of growing and maturing in a life of wholeness. It also situates our meditating activity in the story of Scripture. With these meditations, we dwell in the great story of God's making all things new and whole. And that journey to wholeness includes your mental fitness.

Daily Breath

The second idea is that of Daily Breath. Breathing is a function our autonomic nervous system. This system operates largely unconsciously within our body, controlling things like our heart rate, digestion, fight-or-flight responses, and much more. Breathing is the only function of our autonomic nervous system that we can consciously control. And by breathing intentionally, we can bring greater health to the other functions that we can't control. This builds on the notion that the sound of God's name – YHWH - is the sound of breathing. In this, we can't help but acknowledge the presence of the Divine through our every breath, from the moment we're born until the day we take our final breath. It's like God has given us this beautiful bridge between what we can control and what we can't, and that bridge is His name, YHWH.

Daily Breadth

The third idea is that of Daily Breadth. Each day we have a choice. We can expand into a fuller version of who we have been created to be by operating from a place of love, like a plant that matures and grows both deeper and broader each day. Or we can contract into a version of ourselves that is small and weak by operating from a place of fear, like a plant that is cut off from nutrients. We expand by creating sacred space for growth and by deepening our roots. The full breadth of who you are created and called to be is breathtaking.

The Daily Breadth Experience

Our daily meditations include intentional breathing, resting in the name of YHWH - the source of our Daily Breath - reflections on God's word, the Bread of life, our Daily Bread, and poetic contemplations that call us into the full Breadth of the expansive freedom we have in Christ. Join us inside the app and encounter the transforming God in this digital sacred space!
